End of life support

Comfort, personal care and honest boundaries

This page describes questions to discuss with the registered manager. It does not promise nursing care or an in-house clinical service.

Residential scope

What Summerhill can discuss

The team can discuss personal care, comfort and family support, including how a resident's GP, district nursing team, hospice or other NHS professionals may be involved. Summerhill is a residential care home and does not provide nursing care. Admission depends on individual assessment.

Working with others

External clinicians remain external

Where appropriate, the home may coordinate with a GP, district nursing team, hospice or other clinician. Those professionals remain responsible for their own clinical work and are not an in-house Summerhill service.

Before any decision

Talk with the registered manager

The manager will discuss the person's needs, the current scope and the practical support available before an admission decision.
