Admissions

One step at a time.

A conversation, a visit and an individual assessment before you decide.

A smiling Summerhill carer in a green uniform pushes a resident in a pink fleece and wheelchair through sunlit flowering plants at a garden centre.

Start by telling us what you are looking for and when care may be needed. A visit gives you time to see the home, meet the team and ask questions.

We assess each person’s needs and discuss suitability, availability and fees. If you wish to proceed, the team will explain the written terms and moving-in arrangements. Joining the care interest list does not reserve a room.

How admission works

From a first call to moving in

Every person's route is a little different. This is the usual order, and you can pause or ask questions at any stage.

  1. Step 1 of 5: Get in touch

Call 01202 870935, email the home or use a form on this website. Tell us broadly what you are looking for and when care may be needed.

  2. Step 2 of 5: A first conversation

The team talks the situation through with you and whether Summerhill may be a suitable setting.

  3. Step 3 of 5: Visit Summerhill

See the rooms and shared spaces, meet the team and ask your questions.

  4. Step 4 of 5: An individual assessment

Our Registered Manager assesses the person's needs and any risks. Detailed information is shared through a secure route, not a website form.

Step 5 of 5: Is Summerhill the right place, and is a room available?

  • Yes, and a room is available

    Fees and written terms

You receive the fee, what it includes and the written terms before anything is agreed. Funding is discussed with you and any funding body.

    Moving in

We agree a start date and the moving-in arrangements with you and the person moving in.

  • Yes, but no room yet

    Formal waiting list

With management approval, the person can join our formal waiting list. Each place has a review date, so we check the position with you. The care interest list is different and does not reserve a room.

  • Another setting would suit better

    Help finding the right place

If the person needs nursing care or more specialist support, we explain why and where to look next. For specialist dementia care, that can include our sister home, St Cecilia, if you would like us to pass on your enquiry.
